Sell Anything By Mastering Just Three Simple Marketing Elements.

Updated: Sep 19, 2024

If you’re struggling to put together an ad that drives sales, don’t worry, I know exactly how you feel. I remember sitting down to write my first ad. Big cup of hot coffee, all the confidence in the world. I opened the document ready to type.. spilled some coffee, I had 52k marketing principles jumbled in my head.. no idea where to begin, the confidence quickly faded. I didn't like the feeling so I knew I had to do something about it. So I figured out systems and formulas. In this article I'm going to share with you the formulae I use. So you always know where to begin, and where to end, with your ads.

Structures and formulas are the most important part of nearly any task. Imagine trying to put together a set of bunk beds without instructions, trying to fix a household appliance without youtube, or trying to solve for Y without knowing the formula, it’s basically impossible.. I’ve tried.

Marketing is no different. The problem is if you try to research; “Best structure for an Ad?” you’re instantly overwhelmed with information. Some good advice, some horrendous advice.. They often contradict, which one is right? Where do you start? Well I have read them all, and I’m going to simplify it for you. As with anything, keeping it simple is usually the most effective.

After thousands of hours of research the bottom line is this;

There are only 3 elements that every ad (including yours) MUST have in order to be effective.

Like making a treehouse.. You need wood, nails, and well… a tree. You need all three to be successful.

For marketing the three 3 pillars are, Message, Target Audience, and Medium.

1. You first need to craft the message. Hook to grab attention, body copy to explain “This product is right for you,” and a call to action “click here, buy now, call now.”

2. Second, you must figure out a target audience. Who is the ideal customer for your product? What's their age, gender, and interest? This is a very important step not to be underestimated. The most well written ad in the world won't perform to the wrong audience. Like trying to sell Meatloaf (the band) to a 12 year old.

3. And finally, how will you reach them? What medium will you use?This used to be much more difficult back in the day. With the internet you can pretty much narrow it down to just a few sites. (Google, Facebook, Linkedin) As long as you do the first two steps correctly, this step is fairly easy.

The next time you sit down to write an ad, go one step at a time, be sure to nail each section. Craft a decent message, show it to the right people on the right platform, and your ads will produce results every time.
